Bio: As MITH’s Webmaster, Amanda designs websites, wrangles servers, teaches e-lit and other DH topics in MITH’s academic offerings, and codes for projects such as the Making the Digital Humanities More Open project.
Amanda is a Ph.D. candidate in the University of Maryland’s Department of English, where she focuses on creating and theorizing digital editions as spaces of literary play, participation, and discovery. She holds a master’s degree with a specialization in the digital humanities from the University of Michigan School of Information. Amanda returned to MITH after an IMLS Digital Humanities Model Internship in Summer 2009, when she worked with MITH Associate Director Matt Kirschenbaum to ready the Deena Larsen Collection for in-person and remote use.
Amanda also works as a graduate researcher on a study of the design and educational use of alternate reality games (ARGs) at UMD’s iSchool, and in the past as Technology Chair for the UMD Graduate English Organization (2011-2012) and as a co-organizer of the January 2012 THATCamp Games unconference.
