MITH is located in the McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland, a suburban university of approximately 35,000 students, located in in College Park, eight miles from the Capitol building in Washington, DC.

Directions by Air
The three major airports in the Washington area are Reagan Washington National (DCA), Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI), and Washington Dulles International (IAD). Reagan is the most accessible from College Park, Dulles is the least.
From Reagan Washington National (DCA)
It is easiest to take the Metro to campus from Reagan National Airport. Follow the signs in the airport to the Metro station and take the Yellow Line north (towards Georgia Ave-Petworth). Get off at L’Enfant Plaza and change to the Green Line. Take the Green Line North towards Greenbelt and get off at the College Park / University of Maryland stop. Take the shuttle to McKeldin Library.
From Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI)
Take the BWI Express Metro Bus from the airport to the Greenbelt station. Take the Green Line south one stop to the College Park/University of Maryland station. Take the shuttle to McKeldin Library.
From Washington Dulles International (IAD)
Take the Washington Flyer from the airport to the West Falls Church Metro Station. Take the Orange Line east towards New Carllolton. Get off at L’Enfant Plaza and change to the Green Line. Take the Green Line North towards Greenbelt and get off at the College Park/University of Maryland stop. Take the shuttle to McKeldin Library.
College Park Metro Shuttle
The College Park Metro Station is located on River Road off Paint Branch Parkway, approximately 1 mile from campus. The Metro system runs from 5:00 AM Friday – 3:00 AM on Saturday. The College Park Metro Station UM Shuttle leaves approximately every ten minutes or less from the UM Shuttle stop on the east side of the station. It will drop you off at Lot HH, across the street from the Adele Stamp Student Union (#163 on the campus map). McKeldin Library is less than a three minute walk from here. From Baltimore and points north
Take I-95 South to Washington, D.C.’s Capital Beltway (I-495). Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.
From Virginia and points south
Take I-95 North to Washington, D.C.’s Capital Beltway (I-495). Continue North on I-95 / I-495 toward Baltimore. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.
From Virginia and points west
Take I-66 East or I-270 South to Washington, D.C.’s Capital Beltway (I-495). Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore / Silver Spring. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.
From Annapolis and points east
Take U.S. 50 to Washington, D.C.’s Capital Beltway (I-495). Go North on I-95 / I-495 toward Baltimore. Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.
From Washington, D.C. (northwest / southwest)
Take 16th St. North which becomes Georgia Ave. North at the Maryland / D.C. line. Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.
From Washington, D.C. (northeast / southeast)
Take Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North) which becomes Baltimore Ave. North at the Maryland/D.C. line. Proceed through the city of College Park. Turn left onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

Parking
If you are staying within walking distance of campus, you may want to leave your car at the hotel and walk or take the hotel’s shuttle bus (if provided).
There are also pay lots and garages throughout campus—these are run by automated pay stations, and they take either cash or credit. Rates are $3 per hour up to a $15 per day maximum. The 285-space Union Lane Garage (pictured in blue), next to the student union, is the closest to McKeldin Library (pictured in magenta) and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. You may also park at the Mowatt Lane Garage (pictured in green), which has approximately 400 spaces set aside for visitor use and is open from 7 a.m. to midnight.
